29.10.2021
Following the surprising and disappointing news earlier this week that Oxfam TrailWalker Hong Kong has not been approved by the Hong Kong government, Hong Kong 100 has now also been informed that the government is not supportive of the physical HK100 events proposed for January 2022. The reason stated is the events' scale and the lack of “effective measures to separate participants from normal hikers, which may expose the risks of transmission of COVID-19 to the community”. We are exploring with the government whether we can hold scaled down versions of the physical events on 28 and 29 January and will let everyone know the position as soon as we have clarity.
Runners who had already entered the ballot on 27 October 2021 for HK100 will be contacted separately about refunds.
Deferred places for 2022 will be rolled over to 2023.
We apologise for this turn of events, which is obviously very sad for all of us. In the meantime, we would encourage you to enjoy Flex, which is open for registration now wherever you are in the world.
The hills are still there, let's go and enjoy them!
